Shrub, to 8 ft., with arching branches; branchlets dull purplish, pubescent while young: lvs. very short-petioled, oval to oblong or obovate, obtuse or acutish, cuneate at the base, entire or with a few coarse teeth at the apex, dull green and pubescent above, grayish green and villous beneath, particularly on the veins, 3/4 – 2 1/4 in. long: corymbs dense, 1 1/2 - 2 in. across, glabrous or nearly so: fls. 1/4 in. across, pure white; calyx glabrous: follicles sparingly pilose, slightly spreading.
