Rhodospatha (Greek, rose and spathe, referring to the color of the spathe in some species). Araceae. Climbing shrubs suitable for the warmhouse: branches often rooting: lvs. distichous, elliptic-oblong, acuminate: spathe cymbiform, beaked and deciduous; spadix shorter than the spathe, cylindrical, densely fld., the fls. all perfect or tne lower pistillate; perianth none, stamens 4: berries small, oblong; truncate, 2-celled, many-seeded.—About a score species, Trop.
