Godetia grandiflora, Lindl. ((Enothera whitneyi, Gray). Fig. 1659. Stout, simple and dwarfish, 4-12 in. high: lvs. oblong, tapering to base and apex: buds large, 1-2 in. long; corolla 3-5 in. across, rose-red with a deeper blush or blotch in center, varying into pure white (Duchess of Albany), dark crimson (Lady Albemarle), or bright carmine (Lady Satin Rose): caps, sessile, 4 sided, 8-ribbed. B.M. 5867. J.F. 318.—A highly prized species. |
