Short-trunked : lvs. 3 x 16-24 in., gray-green, with flat spine and slender-cusped prickles: infl. few-branched; fls. 1 1/2-2 in.; segms. and ovary 3/4 in. each, tube 1/2 in.: caps.subglobose, strongly stipitate and beaked.
