Parnassia, caroliniana, Michx. Rootstock erect, very short: height 8-16 in.: leaves ovate, broadly oval or orbicular, more or less cordate at the base; scape-leaf borne below the middle: flowers 3/4-l 1/2 in- across; rudimentary stamens usually 3 in each set.
