Slender, 1-3 ft., somewhat glaucous: Lvs. glabrous, pinnate-lobed and sinuate, the lobes oblong-acute, spiny toothed: fls. solitary or 2-3 together, on naked peduncles, 3 in. across, white; petals oblong, narrowed at base, truncate at top. Southern states and south. B.M. 2342 (as A. albiflora).—Sparingly run wild. Caps.- valves thin, reticulate spiny. L. H. B.
