Calanthe virginalis, Lind. Lvs. soft-hairy below, broad- oval, rather blunt, 7-9 in. long, 4-6 in. broad, upper surface light green, and below, in the common form, whitish green and lighter zones shown, as on the upper surface,—or in another form, which has been distributed in gardens as C. (Maranta) Marcellii, under side shaded a light violet and without zones. Brazil. A.F. 7:611.—Allied to C. Veitchiana, but has bracts with indurated tips rather than membranaceous. CH
