Pavetta indica, Linn. A variable small tree or bush, common in India, extending to China and Austral.: glabrous, pubescent or tomentosc: lvs. from elliptic to obovate or oblanceolate or even orbicular, at the apex from obtuse to caudate: fls. slender-stalked, white, fragrant, the corolla-tube 1/2-3/4 in. long: infl. corymb-like, terminal and sessile. B.R. 198, which is var. polyantha, Hook, f., with densely crowded pubescent fls. The species has many synonyms. CH
