Adhatoda (native name). Acanthaceae. About 25 species of tender shrubs, distinguished from Justicia by the less-spurred anthers, and often by the habit and calyx, but considered by de Dalla Torre and Harms as a mere section of that genus. Fls. whitish or purplish; calyx 5-cleft, often exceeded by the bracts; corolla long-tubed, the limb prominently 2-lipped; stamens 2. For culture, see Justicia.
