Sophora viciifolia, Hance (S. Davidii, Komarov. S. Moorcroftiana var. Davidii, Franch.). Fig. 3642. Spinescent shrub, to 6 ft., with slender spreading pubescent branchlets: lvs. 1-1 1/2 in. long, short-petioled; lfts. 11-15, sessile, elliptic, obtuse, and mucronulate, pubescent beneath, 1/4 – 1/2 in. long: fls. bluish violet or nearly white, about 1/2 in. long, in short, 6-12-fld. racemes terminal on short branchlets; calyx shortly 5-toothed, violet; petals of nearly equal length; standard spatulate-obovate, reflexed: pod about 2 in. long, slender, long-beaked, glabrous.
