Crocus versicolor, Ker (C. fragrans, Haw. C. Reinwardtii, Reichb.). Corm ¾in. or less in diam., with tunics of matted parallel fibers: Lvs. 4-5, as high as the fls., otherwise like the last: upper spathe 1- or 2-lvd.: perianth-tube exserted; segms. 1½ in. long, pale or dark purple, often striped and feathered with dark purple; throats glabrous, whitish or yellowish; anthers yellow, twice as long as the filament; style-branches, orange-yellow, equaling or overtopping the anthers.
