Cryptocentrum latifolium is a member of the Orchid family, Cryptocentrum is a Neotropical genus that lives as far north as Nicaragua and south to Bolivia, with seventeen species known to date. The Guayana Region is also fostering two species.

This particular species, latifolium, is the largest within the genus. The flower's spurs are also the largest in the genus.
