Halimodendron halodendron, Voss (H. argenteum,Fisch.). Salt Tree. Fig. 1784. Shrub, to 6 ft.; the young growth silky-pubescent: lfts. 2 or 4, oblanceolate, rounded and mucronate at the 1784. Halimodendron apex, grayish or bluish green, halodeodron. (x M) minutely silky, becoming sometimes nearly glabrous with age, ½ - 1 1/3 in. long: fls. 2-3, on slender peduncles about ¾ in. long, lilac or pale purple, about Min. long: pod ¾ -l in. long; seeds about 1/5 in. long. June, July. B.M. 1016. Var. purpuroum, Schncid. (H. argenteum fl. purpitreo, Hort. H. spedosum, Carr.). Fls. bright rosy purple. R.H. 1876:30. Alfred Rehder.
