Robinia hartwigii, Koehne. Shrub, to 12 ft.: branchlets, petioles, lf.-rachis, and peduncle puberulous and densely covered with stipitate glands: lfts. 13-23, elliptic to lanceolate, mucronate, grayish pubescent beneath, 1-1 3/4 in. long: racemes dense; calyx pubescent and glandular-hairy; corolla rosy purple, 3/4in. long: pod oblong, densely glandular-hairy, about 2 in. long. June, July. N. C. to Ala.
