Marattia (name from J. F. Maratti, an Italian botanist of the 17th century). Marattiaceae. A genus of large, coarse-lvd. stipulate tropical ferns with the large fleshy sporangia borne in boat-shaped groups on the under surface of the lf. The species are strong- growing and ornamental, some of them reaching considerable size. Besides the following, there are several American species which deserve cult.
