Rudbeckia speciosa, Wenderoth. Perennial, 1-3 ft. high: rays 12-20, becoming 1 1/2 in. long. Moist soil, Pa. to Mich., Ark., and Ala. G.C. II. 16:373 (heads 3-4 in. across, rays more than 30, in 2 series). —R. Newmanii, Loud., is generally considered a synonym of this sp.
