Antholyza caffra, Ker. Corm large, globose, long-necked: st. 2 ft. or less: Lvs. narrow-linear, 1 ft.: fls. 12-20, in a lax spike, bright red, tube 1-1¼ in. long, stamens not quite reaching tip of upper segm.: seeds 3-angled, narrowly winged. Cape.—Has been hybridized with gladiolus.
