Silene gigantea, Linn. Perennial, 3-4 ft. high: st. tall, stout, 4-angled below, viscid-pubescent: lvs. tomentose, the radical densely rosulate, thick, obovate, mucronate; the floral lvs. minute, linear-lanceolate: panicle long, raceme-like, with the cymes densely many-fld., remotely whorled and the uppermost sessile: fls. white; calyx hairy, obconical, 10-nerved; petals 2-parted into oblong segms.: caps. large, ovate.
