Zoysia matrella, Merr. (Z. pungens, Willd. Osterdamia Matrella, Kuntze). Manilla Grass. Sts. creeping, throwing up numerous short leafy shoots and flowering sts.: lvs. crowded, firm, 1-3 in. long, ending in a sharp hard point: spikes 1-2 in. long; spikelets 1/8 in. long, smooth and hard. A native of S. E. Asia, E. Indies.— Grown in Fla. and along the Gulf Coast.
