Akebia lobata, Decne. (A. quercifolia, Sieb. & Zucc.). Lfts. 3, broadly ovate, coarsely crenate, 1-2 in. long: fls. in long racemes, smaller than those of A. quinata. Japan, China. Var. australis, Diels. Lfts. oval or ovate to ovate-oblong, entire or nearly so, coriaceous.—Recently intro. from China and probably tender. Var. clematifolia, Ito. Lfts. broadly ovate to ovate, entire, of thin texture, to 3 1/2 in. long. Japan. A supposed hybrid of this and the preceding species is A. pentaphylla, Makino, with 3-5 Ifts. entire or sparingly crenate. CH
