Copernicia cerifera, Mart. Carnauba Palm. St. 30-35 ft., with a small swelling near the base: lvs. 3—4 ft. wide, nearly round; rachis none; petiole convex below, concave above, the margins with rather thick spines: spadix erect or spreading, 5-6 ft. long and thrice branched; fls. in clusters on the spathe. Trop. S. Amer.—Not well known in the trade; see Livistona. CH
