Dianthus fimbriatus, Bieb. Suffruticose, glabrous, the sts. simple, 1 ft.: lvs. linear, acute, appressed, 3-nerved, plane or keeled: fls. variable, rose-colored, much fimbriate, bearded. Var. orientalis, Williams (D. orientalis, Donn), has fls. with linear-cuneate petals, strongly imbricate obovate straw-colored bracts. B.M. 1069. —A very variable species, ranging from Portugal to Thibet. CH
