Russia in Eu.—As Koch points out in Flora 18, part 1:209, t. 1 (1835), the synonymy given by Linnaeus undoubtedly refers to S. soboliferum, a 6-merous species, but that the one plant Linnaeus cites and his "habitat in Rutheno. D. Gmelin" undoubtedly refer to the 12-merous plant which Besser knew under the name S. globiferum and which he, Besser, sent to Koch in 1834. CH
