Lavatera insularis, Wats. Low bush, cinerous- puberulent, with 7-lobed obtusely dentate leaves: flowers on pedicels shorter than themselves, yellowish white striped and tipped with purple, the petals long-spatulate and emarginate; bractlets spatulate, almost distinct: fruits of about 10 carpels, in an enlarged calyx. Coronados Isls., near S. Calif. —Probably not cultured outside amateurs' collections in S. Calif. CH
