Pavonia praemorsa, Cav. Shrub with rodlike branches, from S. Afr.: lvs. broad-ovate or fan-shaped, truncate, obtusely dentate, canesoent beneath, with petiole and setaceous stipules: fls. bright yellow and dark-centered, single on axillary pedicels exceeding the ls., with 12-44 linear involucra! bracts : fr. of downy carpels.— This and P. spinifex are reported in Calif.
