Psychotria capensis, Vatke (Grumilea capensis, Sond.). An evergreen shrub or tree with shining lvs. 3-5 x 1 1/2 - 2 in., and fls. in trichotomous, pedunculate corymbs: stipules coriaceous, broad: pedicels appressed, hairy, bracteated at the base; ultimate pedicel bearing a 6-12-fld. umbel; calyx 1/2 line long; corolla 3 lines long, yellow: fr. black.
