High climbing shrub, with slender green prickly branches: lfts. 3, rarely 5, elliptic-ovate to ovate- lanceolate, sharply serrate, shining and glabrous, 1 1/2-2 1/2 in. long: fls. solitary, white, rarely rose, 2 1/2-3 1/2in. across, fragrant; pedicels and receptacle densely bristly: fr. large, obovate, bristly.
