Salvia goudotii, Benth. (S. lantanaefolia, Hort., not Mart. & Gal.). Shrub, about 2 ft. high, with the branches red-puberulent or glabrous: lvs. about 3 in. long, ovate or ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, serrate-crenate, base narrowed, both surfaces pubescent; floral lvs. lanceolate-subulate, deciduous: racemes simple; floral whorls 6-10-fld., subsecund; calyx tubular-campanulate, the teeth ovate, ciliate-margined; corolla red, more than 1 in. long.
