Selaginella rubella, Moore. Sts. 1 ft. long, somewhat erect in habit, reddish brown, with 2 grooves on the upper face: lvs. of lower plane dark green, becoming reddish with age, obtuse or obscurely cuspidate, ciliated and imbricated over the st. at the upper side of base; lvs. of upper plane ovate-cuspidate. Native country not known.—Has been in cult. since 1870. Var. variegata, Hort., is cult. CH
