The alpine snowbell or blue moonwort,^[1] Soldanella alpina, is a member of the Primulaceae native to the Alps and Pyrenees^[2].

Soldanella alpina, Linn. (S. Clusii, F. W. Schmidt. S. occidentalis, Vierh.). Sts. 3-6 in. high: lvs. roundish; base more or less kidney-shaped; margin entire or somewhat wavy: fls. violet, with darker streaks. May. Var. alba, Hort., is a white-fld. form.
