Stachys coccinea, Jacq. One to 2 ft., slender, soft-pubescent: lvs. ovate-lanceolate, cordate at base or somewhat deltoid, obtuse, crenate: fls. scarlet-red, the narrow tube much exceeding the calyx, pedicelled, in an interrupted spike, blooming in succession. W. Texas to Ariz.—Showy. CH
