Stanleya pinnata, Brit. (S. pinnatifida, Nutt.). Sts. flexuous: lvs. very variable, commonly pinnatifid; segms. lance-oblong or oblanceolate-elliptic, rarely linear, almost entire; terminal segm. larger: fls. deep golden yellow, according to D.M. Andrews. May-July. W. Kans. and Neb. to Texas and S. Calif., in dry clay or alkaline soils. G.C. III. 29:381.—A hardy perennial herb about 3 ft. high with the general appearance of a cleome and fls. about 1 in. across borne in terminal spikes a foot or more long. CH
