Steriphoma (Greek, foundation, alluding to the large peduncle of the fruit). Capparidaceae. Unarmed shrubs with the branches and infl. stellate-pubescent, grown in the warmhouse: lvs. long-petioled, with 1 lft. which is lanceolate, entire; the petiole thickened at the top: fls. showy, orange, in terminal racemes; the pedicels bent or curved down, 1-fld.; calyx cylindrical-campanulate, 2-4-lobed at the top; receptacle very short, expanded into a ring-like disk; petals 4, sessile; stamens 6; ovary ovate or oblong: berry globose or angulate, corticate, pulpy.—Four species, Trop.
