Vanda densiflora, Lindl. (Saccolabium giganteum, Lindl.). St. short, thick: lvs. very thick, 6-12 in. long, notched: raceme dense, cylindrical, about as long as the lvs., nodding: sepals white, cuneate-ovate, subacute; petals narrower, with few purple spots at the base; labellum cuneate, obtusely 3-lobed, with 2 pubescent ridges at the base, terminal lobes bright shining purple. Winter. Burma. B.M. 5635. F.S. 17:1765. C.L.A. 6:164. Var. illustris, Reichb. f. Raceme and fls. larger: sepals and petals spotted with purple; labellum bright purple. I.H. 31:517.
